The author noted in the Forward that she meant for this book to be for college age students who didn’t have everything all figured out yet, and I definitely think she delivered in covering the types of issues that are relevant at that stage in life. I thought the author did a great job capturing the feel of being in a different country for the first time within that, I also thought she captured both the sense of freedom and insecurities that come with this kind of trip. I really enjoyed reading about Shane’s adventures and comparing them to my own experiences from college. Many of the places Shane visits on her trip are places I visited on my own study abroad program. Review: First off, this book gave me all the nostalgic study abroad feels. As she goes through her study abroad program, her ‘reboot’ of her college experience isn’t always as smooth as she expected, but along the way she learns how to be true to herself. She makes a list on the plane of several goals she is going to check off by the end of the term, ready for the opportunity to start over and become the person she has wanted to grow into. So far, she feels like she hasn’t been successful at making friends, having a dating life, or pursuing some of her personal dreams. When Shane gets the chance to study abroad in London, she is looking forward to rebooting her college experience.
